The health of the parent stock is extremely important for the health of the chicks. Our vaccination scheme is carefully designed for both the parent stock and the chicks to ensure their good health and protect them against commonly occurring diseases in the layer sector in Ghana. We use imported vaccines from The Netherlands, making our vaccination scheme the most complete one available on the market.

We collaborate with Avecur, an independent organization that possesses in-depth knowledge about poultry vaccines. They provide us with valuable advice on which vaccines are most effective for both our farm and yours. Our own veterinarian, who visits numerous farms in Ghana, stays up-to-date with the latest veterinary conditions on layer farms. We work alongside Avecur to determine whether and how we need to adjust our vaccination scheme to ensure the highest possible immunity against prevalent diseases.
Parent stock vaccination
The parent stock at the rearing and laying houses are vaccinated according to a strict vaccination scheme. Their health is carefully monitored, and blood samples are regularly taken and investigated to check their antigen levels and overall health. Some of the maternal immunity is transferred to the chicks, giving them a head start. This, combined with the vaccination scheme for the chicks, makes them the most resilient day-old chicks available on the market.
Chicks Vaccination
After the chicks are hatched, we immediately vaccinate them before transporting them. On day zero, our highly trained staff administers a comprehensive combination of vaccines via injection and spray.
To ensure your chicks' continued protection throughout the laying cycle, we advise you to consult with your own veterinarian and implement a suitable vaccination scheme. We recommend vaccinating your layer chicks on day 14, 35, 56, 84, and day 112 with various vaccines that you can administer. If you require a suggested vaccination scheme, we are happy to provide one upon request.

Administering vaccines through water systems
Administering vaccines to your poultry flock is essential to ensure their health and well-being. One method of administering vaccines is through water systems. This method is effective and efficient as it allows the vaccine to be ingested by the birds through the water. However, it is important to follow the proper procedure to ensure the vaccine is still viable and the birds receive the necessary dosage.
Steps to properly administer vaccines through water systems
- Empty and clean all your drinkers.
- Keep birds without water for a short period to make them thirsty.
- Prepare the right amount of stock solution based on the amount of intake in cool fresh water (8-10°C).
- Open vaccine bottles under roughly, 7°C cold water and stir until dissolved.
- Use drinking water at 20°C with pH 6.5; avoid disinfectants.
- Fill the drinkers and refill as necessary
- Adjust water amounts as birds grow.
- Ensure the chicks finish the water within 60 - 90 minutes otherwise the vaccine will nolonger be viable.
Administering spray vaccines
Administering spray vaccines requires professional equipment to ensure accurate dosing and avoid over-wetting or under-dosing the birds. Here are some tips to follow:
- Select the recommended droplet size for the vaccine to achieve optimal coverage.
- Calculate and prepare the right amount of stock solution containing the vaccine to ensure accurate dosing.
- Dispense the vaccine carefully to avoid over-wetting the birds, which can cause sickness, or under-dosing them, which may result in uneven protection.
Vaccination by Injection
Vaccination by injection is a common method for administering vaccines to birds. It involves warming up the vaccines and using an automatic syringe to inject the vaccine into the breast. Here are some important tips to keep in mind when vaccinating your birds by injection:
- Warm up the vaccines to approx. 35 to 37 degrees C using a water bath, such as a fish tank warmer, to make the vaccine more suitable for injection and less stressful for your birds.
- Use the proper quantity of vaccine per bird by adjusting the regulator on your automatic syringe. The amounts are indicated on the vaccine description.
- Inject in the breast, directing the needle towards the head of the bird at a 45 degrees angle. Injecting in the liver may cause the bird to die.
- Change the needle often enough to avoid cross-contamination.
